Meet Laura Byrd, Sassafras Associate Art Director

Say hello to Laura!

Artists, creatives, account managers…you’ll find them all at Sassafras Marketing! Our amazing team includes folks like Associate Art Director Laura Byrd, who is the newest member to join our team. Laura calls Springfield, MO home.  For those unfamiliar, Springfield is ground zero of Bass Pro Shop and home of Missouri State University. We’re looking forward to the optimism and creativity that Laura will undoubtedly bring to the team!

Learn more about Laura…

What do you like most about working at Sassafras?

The people! It’s a great environment and everyone has been so helpful and welcoming. I was lucky enough to attend a team meeting within my first couple of weeks and felt right at home.

Your hometown postcard—what’s on it?

I’d have to say the Bass Pro logo, it began in Springfield and there are lots of great activities for outdoor enthusiasts here, hiking, canoeing, fishing, you name it. The foodie in me also feels the need to mention Springfield Style Cashew Chicken, Pineapple Whip, and Askinosie Chocolate; a local chocolatier making a worldwide impact: check them out!

Who is your hero and why?

My grandma. She is one of the most hardworking and sweetest people I know and her faith is unshakable. Having a background in nonprofit, I also really admire those who work with children, especially those who are in the foster care system.

What book are you reading right now?

Start Something That Matters by Blake Mycoskie

Name an interesting thing about yourself that others might not know.

I took piano lessons for 12 years.

What is your favorite website or app?

Etsy! There are so many talented people out there!

Is there a particular project or work product you are most proud of?

Can we come back to this one in a year or so?  😉

Describe your ideal Saturday.

My husband and I would wake up early, get some coffee, and head to Arkansas (it’s about an hour away) for a day hike, complete with a bonfire and marshmallows…and probably another coffee squeezed in there somewhere.

You’re leaving town for a very, very long time…where would you dine for your last meal and what would you eat?

Springfield Brewing Company, The Adult Mac & Cheese with Chicken. Good stuff.
